The Story Behind the Name

There was a time when Bartholomew Bars had stepped away from rapping and singing altogether. Rather than performing, he had shifted his creative energy toward producing beats.

During that period, he regularly collaborated with a close friend named Ace. The two would get together, make beats, and occasionally, Bars would find himself picking up the microphone and rapping again.

Ace recognized something in him that he wasn’t actively pursuing anymore.

One day, Ace told him, “If you ever start doing music again, you should change your name to Bartholomew Bars.”

Naturally, his response was, “Why Bartholomew Bars?”

Ace explained the clever meaning behind the name, turning what seemed like an unusual suggestion into a memorable play on words.

What started as a moment between two friends would eventually become something much more significant.

Sadly, Ace passed away in 2016.

In 2019, after years away from performing, Bars returned to making music. But this time, he carried something special with him: the name his friend had given him.

By embracing the name Bartholomew Bars, he transformed a playful suggestion into a lasting tribute to someone who believed in his talent, even during a time when he had stepped away from the spotlight.

Today, the name represents far more than lyrical ability or musical identity. It symbolizes friendship, remembrance, perseverance, and the importance of honouring those who believed in you along the way.

Every song, every performance, and every new chapter carries a piece of that history.

Because for Bartholomew Bars, the name isn’t simply about who he is as an artist. It’s also about remembering someone who helped shape who he would become.

And every time that name is spoken, a piece of Ace’s legacy lives on.
